I didn’t think. I nodded immediately—then felt embarrassed and looked away.
My cheeks burning.
Minutes ago, I had sworn I’d never date someone younger. And now I was saying yes without even thinking.
I sighed.
“If that man was you… why not?”
His eyes softened, and he smiled at me—not sarcastic, not teasing. Real.
I felt relieved seeing him smile like that.
“May I have this dance, then?” he asked, standing and offering his hand like we were in an old movie.
I blushed.
I didn’t understand what he was doing, but I decided to let him lead.
I nodded and let him pull me up, guiding me to the dance floor. The bar was almost empty, a few people watching us quietly.
The music was slow—too slow for how fast my heart was racing. He placed one hand on my waist, hesitant at first, like he was afraid I’d disappear. The other held mine gently.
I tried to stop crying.
