I slowly walked away of the window.
Crying won’t solve my problem.
All I have to do is wait for him to come around. I pulled off my shoes and dropped my bag on the couch, trying to breathe normally.
“Don’t overthink, Charlotte.” I reminded myself.
I headed into the kitchen, tied an apron around my waist, and pulled on a hair bonnet.
The kitchen felt too quiet.
I turned on the stove.
Staring at the flame as another tear dropped down my cheek.
Even if he was cheating… who am I to complain?

Yeah, I am pathetic.
It took me a few minutes to snap out of my absent-mindedness and proceed to the next thing.
My hands moved on autopilot, washing vegetables, reaching for spices, but my mind was still far away.
The knife slipped slightly, almost cutting into my skin as I chopped onions.
