Hesitantly, I picked up the phone and typed in my name. Instantly, the screen lit up, and a picture of me, sleeping peacefully, was his screensaver.
My chest tightened.
“I… I’ll let you be for now,” he said after a long pause.
He walked away with a blank face.
He was definitely upset.
I had no right to go through his phone.
Quickly, I set the phone down and went after him.
I needed to apologize.
I needed him to know I wasn’t trying to accuse him of stealing. I trusted him, I just needed to be sure.
I got back into the bedroom and opened the door only to find him sitting with both hands on his face.

His eyes were dark with something, fear or anger I can’t point it out.
