Chapter 64. The Bullet or the Money
“Do you think there’s gonna be a random human hanging on the ceiling?” I ask him after following him to stare.
He shakes his head. “Cameras. I’m looking for cameras.”
“Well? Are there any?”
“Yes. All broken.”
Broken. Fuck! “Whoever did this is smart,” I mutter while having a hard time keeping my hands from twirling each other.
“And murderous,” Zeath adds, “they could kill on instinct, so stay behind me.” He tries to move forward; toward Mama Tia.
But I quickly grab his arm. “The fuck are you doing, sir? There could be booby traps.”
Zeath glances at the floor. “Follow my every step, then.”
He walks cautiously in Mama Tia’s, eyes stuck on the latter. From time to time I look from him to his grandmother while trying to discern the look in his eyes.
