He tries to detach the hug, but I quickly hold him tight. “Before you go, can you tell me if you really have evidence like you said earlier?” I need to know what’s real and not.
“I don’t,” Zeath replies. “My father did his works under the canopy. He never let us in on it. Sometimes, I realize how much I don’t even know him.”
“Okay.”
After I let him go, he caresses my thighs and leaves to the mall.
I wait in the car for about two minutes before my phone dings. Grabbing it from the console, I find Christopher’s text.
‘How are you, Tara? Dinner tonight?’
I quickly type and send ‘Yes’ just as I see Zeath coming out of the mall with a bag.
He goes around to enter the car, then hands me the nylon. “I figured since you haven’t eaten breakfast you must be hungry,” he says.
I nod even though I don’t think I’m actually hungry. Ins
