Fallon’s POV
The car sped across the familiar road we had used days ago, and the same silence that accompanied us then engulfed the car.
Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined how the trip turned out, from hating my failed hit to sharing his bed and forming an actual civil relationship. But now, all of that was over. All of it was left back in the lake house on the outskirts of a village in Fye, where it began and ended.
We were going back to Cillicia, back to our reality. Back to my life as his assassin in secret and blood bag in public.
I stole a glance at him to see his face twisted in a tight expression. I turned my attention back to nature, letting my thoughts wander with the wind.
A few more miles, and he broke the silence. “You good?”
