Chapter 20
Birdy had already grown accustomed to the special treatment she received from Lycanthropos. She hardly did anything around the house, waking up to the smell of brewing coffee in the morning and having a nice hot meal for lunch and dinner.
This morning was typical, with Lycanthropos sitting by her side as she sipped her morning coffee in bed, lying propped up with the sheets covering half of her body.
She hadn’t gone back to her house since her mother’s death. Worse, she was scared of what Joe might do to her if she ever went back home. Thus, she had resorted to wearing Lycanthropos’s baggy shirts and trousers.
Lycanthropos was sitting by her side, happy to take care of her.
“I know I haven’t said this lately,” she said, “but thank you.” There was a long pause, and then, as though to reaffirm that she was now comfortable, she added, “Thank you, Lycanthropos.”
The words felt weird coming out from her, and it also felt weird for Lycanthropos to hear them f
