Chapter 55
Time passed quickly. Pierre managed to sell several of his new works and was excited that he was beginning to develop some contacts in the art world. His journals were of interest to collectors, but he kept those to inform his work as they contained notes and sketches that he could use for paintings.
“I think I’ll be leaving soon,” he said to Leon as they worked in the studio one early morning of the third week after he’d spoken to his friends. “I’ll write to you as I did last time.”
“I look forward to the letters! I wish I could go on these adventures with you,” Leon replied. “I have some sculpting deadlines, and, to be honest, your friends’ preferred modes of transport are very dear.”
“That they are,” Pierre agreed. “I barely had any savings when I returned from the last trip.”
“Let’s see if we can borrow the kitchen and cook a farewell dinner with Josephine.”
They returned to the boarding house,
