Chapter 73
When they returned to Antoine’s Paris home after a tricky journey, making sure to only emerge after dark on the steamer and the train, then journeyed another long distance by coach, they tumbled into Antoine’s bed and lay down in a daze for a few hours. They had fed on the way home from the train station, and now they could finally rest.
“Travel is exhausting, Antoine,” Pierre murmured as he lay on his side, tracing Antoine’s body with his fingertips.
“It really is,” Antoine replied. “That is…when you can’t feed en route.”
“Yes.”
“Those young men down the road were delicious. I do feel replenished,” Antoine said with satisfaction.
“Well, yes. They hit the spot, but I still feel very average.”
“We’ll go out and get a feel for our city again,” Antoine said. “We can shake the tiredness from the journey off. Who do you want to see first? Leon or Henri?”
