Chapter 24

My eyes asked in a sweet way when he looked at me. I couldn't read the pretense in his eyes, and I couldn't feel the pretense in the way his hands caressed my cheek.

I don't know what to believe anymore.

My hands itched to hold his hand, gently caressing my cheek. His eyes are now surprised because I have slowly removed his hand from me. I took several steps away from him.

"Claret," he called my name softly, as if he didn't understand what I was doing.

"Zen, is there something you're not telling me?" I asked him weakly. I'm afraid of whatever he might answer; I'm afraid that I might not be able to hear the words he might say to me now.

He frowned at me, and he stepped closer to touch me again, but I chose to step away from him and keep our distance.

"What did you do to her?" Zen shouted loudly. Both moaned, and the two male vampires who were struggling with pain were already on their chests; even the princess was moaning as well.
