Chapter 73

Lisa paced back and forth in the living room, her heart pounding with worry. She was waiting for Tom as he attended to his daughter. Emily, on the other hand has had her own share of issues lately, but Lisa couldn’t have predicted what was about to unfold.

Tom had promised to be quick – just a moment to check on Emily and make sure she was alright. However, minutes slowly turned into an eternity as Lisa waited downstairs, anxiously listening for any noise that would signal their return.

Time dragged on, and Lisa’s concern deepened. She couldn’t shake off an unsettling feeling that something was terribly wrong. Suddenly, a muffled noise echoed from upstairs, followed by what seemed like the sound of a struggle. Fear gripped Lisa, and without thinking, she bolted up the staircase, her feet almost skipping steps.

As she reached the top of the stairs, the chaos grew louder. Her heart pounded in her chest as she rushed towards Emily’s room. The door was ajar, and inside
