Chapter 48
Ever since her detention in the dungeon, Queen Arundel had done some serious thinking. She had spent her early days in a sort of dissonance with her reality: she could not believe the swift descent from being a Queen and having the kingdom in her palms to being sitting on the cold floor inside of the dungeon. For light and ventilation, there was a small window above the walls that allowed a sparse amount of light and air inside. Her maid, Eva, a sixteen year old, who had been with her since she was about ten years of age, was her only companion. And even she came to visit occasionally, as the guards wouldn't allow anyone else to visit her.
But today, she had an unexpected visitor. It was Princess Diala. Queen Arundel was quite surprised.
"Hello, Arundel," Diala began, her tone laced with malice, and a smirk stretched out on her face.
Queen Arundel had to squint to see the princess that was standing just outside of her cell.
