Chapter 50

The physician took the letter from Louis, gently opened it and read the content. It had first boggled his mind, so the true and rightful king of Linerdo was still alive? But then, it was all so overwhelming and as he got to the end of the letter, he had to read with eyes misty with tears. When he was done, he gave Louis an incredulous look, tears flowing down his cheek, and then put his head on the desk, sniffling as he cried. It made Louis quite uncomfortable and it was very awkward for him as he watched the old man cry. He had only allowed him to read the letter to earn his trust.

"There, now, it's okay, physician," Louis said, patting his hand. "It's fine, come on."

The physician slowly raised his head, and wiped off the mixture of snot and tears that was on his face.

"I hope this isn't some kind of bamboozlement," he said, holding the letter towards Louis, his voice thick with phlegm.
