Merga had had her suspicions. One of the unwritten rules of the witchcraft practice was that for the few witches powerful enough to carry out resurrections, they could only do it on a person once, not twice. The second time would be futile as the person would have had their feet firmly on the other side. Merga had known this when she attempted to bring Robert back to life the second time; she wanted to just try, really. And when it worked, she was too joyful to think too deeply about it at that moment. But now, it was staring her in the face.
Robert held the candle in his hand as it burned with a bright steady flame, his eyes wide with wonder. Merga was not too surprised, she had seen magic of all kinds, but this had to be some kind of anomaly. Robert was only a human. Or was he?
