Chapter 6. She’s Gone!

Nolan’s POV

I stood frozen, my heart heavy with longing, as Evelyn almost disappeared from my sight. I couldn’t let her go again. I had to talk to her and make her see that I still loved her and wanted to protect her. She was my mate and I had spent so long away from her. I didn’t want anyone else and I couldn’t bare the idea of her being with anyone else.

I took a deep breath and called out to her, trying to keep my voice steady. “Evelyn, come on. It’s been five long years. Can we at least have a conversation. You know, like old times.” I held my breath hoping that she would accept.

She stopped in her tracks, and she turned around to face me, her eyes flashing with irritation. “What do you want, Nolan? To push me aside and hurt me all over again?” she scoffed. “I’m here only for the sake of my unwell mother. She needs me.”
