Chapter 103

Sofia’s POV

I stayed up waiting for Sterling to arrive at the door at five o’clock in the evening. However, he didn’t. I could sense my anxiety rising as I waited for a call or text. I even sent a few myself to check in on him to see if he was okay. I got no response. I chose to give his office a call. If his secretary was still around surely she would have some information she could give. While I waited, the phone rang and rang. As I was about to give up hope and hang up her voice came through.

“Office of Alvanov, how may I assist you?” Her tone was professional and kind as she requested.

“It’s me, Susan. I haven’t heard from Sterling so I was wondering whether he was caught up in something.” I spoke quickly.

“Oh, he’s, um—” She began, then stopped herself.

“I was instructed that if you called, to let you know he was in a meeting, But it doesn’t seem right doing that. I have no idea where he went but He left here at about one in the afternoon.”<
