Sofia’s POV

A month had passed. A whole fucking month since Sterling informed me Gabriel had gone back into hiding. He was dealing with this a lot better than I was. He was more relaxed and I was a little more on edge this time. I just wanted this to be over but there was no end in sight.

“Love, what’s on your mind?” Sterling asked as I looked out of the window of the study.

“The same thing that’s been on it,” I answered honestly.

“Try not to dwell on it. There’s only so much we can do.” He wrapped his arms around my waist.

“How are you so calm about this?” I questioned.

“He’s still out there somewhere.”

“Because I know with the security we’re safe,” Sterling responded.

“Because I know this is what he wants from us and I refuse to give it to him.”
