Chapter 41
Sofia’s POV
I quickly woke from my mattress screaming, I cursed as I got up and headed to the restroom. Since I started sleeping alone, I have been having nightmares more frequently. Sometimes even more awful. I’m glad that once I wake up, I don’t remember the majority of them because I would have struggled with them. I try to regulate my breathing as I get in the shower and let the cool water run over me. I get out of the shower as soon as I start to feel less of a headache.
I was not ready to return to bed. As soon as I fell asleep the nightmares started again. I then take a little detour around the house before arriving at the patio in the back. Since there was a swing set nearby, I decided to sit down. Shortly afterward, I hear the creak of the door opening. Ida left wearing a large shawl across her shoulders.
“Can’t sleep?”
“Nope.”
“Here. Maybe this will calm you a bit.” She handed me a cup of hot tea.
