Chapter 40

Sofia’s POV

Standing up I walked inside without even giving her a chance to say something.

I storm up to my bedroom of the previous night and slam the door. After washing my face, I took a long time to look at my reflection. When did I start to appear so… weak? I hardly recognized myself.

I wash my face, shake off the thoughts, and move to the bed. I stare at the ceiling in an attempt to clear my head so I can go to sleep. As it was almost two in the morning, I wished it would happen sooner rather than later. I turn to my side and sigh.

I momentarily opened my eyes to discover the sun peeking through the drapes. I heard the door squeak open and saw Steel enter. He jumped on the bed while I let him for a moment before pulling him in a hug.

“Good morning mama.”

“Good morning mi amor.” He started giggling as I tickled his side.

“Stop it.” He screeched. I finally stopped and he caught his breath.

“Come on let’s get you showered.” I
