Chapter 5. Doubts

Avery’s POV

I sigh for the umpteenth time as I am unable to find a single idea for my jewelry design idea. A hobby that I have now developed into a skill over the past few years. My pencil hovers above the blank page of my drawing book, where all my ideas reside.

My mind is unable to focus on the task at hand because my thoughts are occupied by a certain blue-eyed man. I finally drop the pencil and pick up my phone, opening the search bar at the top of the screen.

I am at a loss for what to type because I only know him by his first name. My fingers tap rapidly on the phone’s keyboard. ‘Ethan Billionaire’ appears on the search bar, and I tap the search icon.

My eyes widen as I skim through the various articles that appear. There are many things I learn about him at once, and I feel as if I have been struck by lightning.

I can’t seem to wrap my head around the fact that I was a surrogate for the wealthiest person in the country, Ethan Lorenzo.

He is the owner of Kings Enterprise, a powerful business group with branches in finance, tourism, agriculture, and even the entertainment industry. He is a powerful billionaire, and from what I see in the articles, he has connections with the government. The man literally owns everything, even the club where I work.

I almost slept with the country’s most powerful man yesterday! The thought has my head pounding. He is at the top of the pyramid, and I am, well, just me.

I was rendered speechless when I saw him in that private room, and even more so when he asked me to sleep with him. His blunt words from yesterday have my cheeks heating again.

Thankfully, a call interrupted the moment. I couldn’t hear what was being said on the other end, but I guess it wasn’t pleasant, and I watched his expression change from worry to anger. His face grew so dark it could literally drip ink, and he had stormed out of the private room. The other men in the private room immediately sobered up and went after him, leaving only me and their visibly confused companions in the private room.

My eyes widen as it occurs to me that today is the day I have to visit him at the Royalty Hotel.

“Shit!” I curse before racing towards my small closet and rummaging through my clothes with the aim of finding an appropriate fit for the evening.

He instructed me to dress nicely, and I don’t plan on doing anything that might make him change his mind. Heck, I didn’t even mind sleeping with him just to gain access to the twins. That’s how much I love them. Not a day goes by where I don’t think of them.

My hands stop midair as a tinge of doubt creeps up in my mind. What if he doesn’t fulfill his part of the bargain? My legs feel weak, and I mindlessly slide to the carpeted floor as I begin to rethink my decisions.

Ethan’s POV

Rage. That’s all I feel as I look at the couple kneeling in front of me, fear visible on their faces. I was taken from my lust-filled state back in the private room yesterday into a moment of panic when a call came from Nana’s mansion that the younger twin, Carlos, was unconscious with a fever.

It was a serious exaggeration from the terrified maid who called. Carlos had only been bawling his eyes out and asking for his mother before he fell asleep. Even Nana and his twin, Lucas, couldn’t even comfort him.

It turns out that he was bullied by the son of Nana’s neighbor, whose father turned out to be a ‘business’ associate, Charles Martino. The little bastard was caught on CCTV pushing my son’s head.

A sigh escapes me. Nana is too free with her security—I mean, she doesn’t even have a gate or one security guard! Just her and the maids. That’s why I am hesitant to take my sons to her place sometimes because she never allows me to upgrade the security or even let a guard stay around.

“Trust me, Lorenzo. My son never meant to hurt him! I have—”

“It’s funny how you are trying to defend a seventeen-year-old boy bullying a child—my son.” I interrupt, a frown marring my features as I process the thought. They are both lucky my son is fine now, or they wouldn’t even be here speaking.

I could tolerate the thought of those who tried to hurt me, but my sons were untouchable. What was the use of my connections and success if I couldn’t even protect them? I feel a heated gaze on me, and I shift my gaze to see the woman beside her husband batting her lashes at me while pushing her boobs forward. Tsk, what a fucked-up family.

“I can never forgive what happened. I have to deal with you all so that you are not a nuisance to society. Your son will be in my torture room for exactly forty-eight hours; you can come for him after that time is over.” I state firmly, watching Charle’s face crumple at my words.

“No! Please, he is my only son! My poor baby.” The wife cries, hysterically crawling forward in an attempt to hold my legs, but Marcus steps forward and pushes her away from me.

The screams of pain from the torture room downstairs travel to where I am seated, and I feel satisfaction at the loud shrieks of pain.

“It’s enough, Lucia. Let’s go home. You spoiled him, and you can see the consequences now!” Charles speaks, scolding his wife, whose tear-stained face slowly contorts into anger.

I stand up, exiting the office, as I am not ready to see the couple quarrel in front of me. What a waste of time and energy!

I close my eyes as soon as I step outside the abandoned building, enjoying the cool breeze from the evening. Such a cool breeze. I should buy this place and convert it into something beautiful.

Movements behind me make me open my eyes.

“What is it?” I grunted, feeling irritated at the interruption from my rare moment of peace.

Marcus clears his throat. “You have an appointment now at the Royalty Hotel.”

I laugh and turn to face him. “I can never forget such an appointment.”

Greetings from both left and right reach my ears as I stride towards the private elevator that leads to my executive suite on the hotel’s top floor.

“Enjoy your stay, sir.” The hotel’s president says as soon as I step into the golden walls of the elevator carrying the king’s emblem. I nod at him, and his head remains bowed till the doors close.

It seems like forever, but soon the elevator dings and the doors pull open.

The hallway I notice as soon as I step out is quiet, much to my satisfaction. I use my card to open the door to my executive suite, and I wonder if she really came.

My breath hitches as I step into the huge hotel room with its view overlooking the city. But it’s not the city view that concerns me, but the sexy woman standing in the middle of the room. She is dressed in a white dress that accentuates her figure and has a deep neckline that gives me a view of her fair cleavage. Her red hair is in an updo, some curly strands frame her face, and her lips are coated in a simple red lipstick that has my thoughts running wild. Damn, I should be more than this.

A groan escapes me as I feel the tents in my trousers growing. My feet move as if they have a mind of their own, and I find myself in front of her. Damn, I want her so much.

“G…good evening,” she stutters, her eyes shifting around. That shy action of hers has my heart beating faster and my hardness growing.

I chuckle as I pull her flush against me. A sigh almost escaped me as her soft body fit perfectly against mine. “Pleasurable evening to you, too, baby girl.”
