Amelia’s POV
Phoebe Faroe looked like the kind of woman who’d never worked a day in her life unless you counted working a room, which I had to admit, she probably did very well. Her silk blouse hugged her figure like it had been tailored by angels, her skirt ironed to precision and her heels clicked against the floor with the kind of authority that said, ‘I don’t wait in lines, lines wait for me.’ Her blonde hair fell over her shoulders as if she had a personal breeze following her around just to keep it artfully tousled.
Meanwhile, I was pretty sure I had a coffee stain on my shirt and my hair was doing that frizzy halo thing that made me look one step away from being electrocuted. Perfect.
I resisted the urge to check if there was a tiny spotlight following her around. It wouldn’t have surprised me.
