Amelia’s POV
I grabbed my notebook and followed Mark down the hall, my nerves tightening with every step. By the time we reached the conference room, my palms were damp, and my stomach was doing somersaults. I was so focused on not making a run for it that I almost missed the familiar voice calling my name.
“Amelia!”
I turned, and there was Emily, practically bouncing on her heels. She pulled me into a quick hug, her curls brushing against my cheek. “Oh my God, it feels like ages since I last saw you. How are you?”
I forced a smile, trying to match her enthusiasm. I’d totally forgotten that this meeting was about the project that we were working on with Emily Langford’s company. “I’m fine.”
Emily studied me, tilting her head slightly. “You sure? You look…” Her eyes moved over my face, then softened. “Well, you look like you could use a drink. Or five.”
