Amelia’s POV

I yanked my arm out of Adrian’s grip, glaring up at him. “What am I doing? What about you, Adrian? Who the hell do you think you are?”

My voice was sharp, laced with all the anger and frustration I didn’t realize I’d been holding in. Adrian’s eyes widened in shock, and for a second, I almost regretted shouting. But then I saw how his brows furrowed, and his lips twisted into a frown, clearly not understanding why I was so upset. And it made me even angrier.

“What are you talking about, Amelia?”

“You know exactly what I’m talking about!” I snapped, clenching my fists at my sides. “You spoke to Chase. You asked him how much it would take for him to stay away from me. What gave you the right to do that? What were you thinking?”

Adrian’s face slowly shifted from confusion to realization. He exhaled sharply, his posture stiffening, as if suddenly aware of how much he’d screwed up.

“Can we just…get out of the rain?”
