Amelia’s POV
This was a mistake.
Darren had suggested we all go on a ride together like it was the best idea in the world, completely unaware of the suffocating tension tightening around me like a noose. And because I hadn’t been fast enough to come up with an excuse, I found myself here—standing in line for one of the biggest rides in the amusement park, wedged between Darren and Adrian.
The universe had a twisted sense of humor.
I could feel Adrian beside me, his presence far too noticeable, far too distracting. It didn’t help that every now and then, I caught the slight curve of his lips, the glint in his eye that told me he knew exactly how uncomfortable I was.
It made me take back every ounce of guilt I’d felt after our conversation in the library.
