Darren was saying something.
Something about the best funnel cake he’d ever had. Something about a stall just past the Ferris wheel. Something about how we should go there.
I nodded, pretending to listen, pretending I hadn’t spent the last ten minutes trying to shake the feeling of Adrian’s arm beneath my fingers.
The moment we left the ride and parted ways with Sophia and Adrian, I had done everything I could to push him from my thoughts. I focused on Darren, on his cheerful chatter, on the colorful blur of lights decorating the park. But it was useless. Every time I thought I had buried the moment, it crept back in—Adrian’s smirk, his voice, the warmth of his skin.
