Chapter 43. Trapped With Him
Amelia’s POV
The days leading up to the camp trip passed without a hitch.
And by “without a hitch,” I meant I didn’t have to see Adrian more than necessary.
It was one of the rare times I was thankful that he was in his senior year while I was in junior year. Our paths didn’t cross much at school unless he made a point of making them cross, which, thankfully, he hadn’t. I convinced myself that this meant whatever weird tension had formed between us was all in my head. He had Sophia, and I had Darren. We had nothing to do with each other.
But then the day of the trip arrived, and reality had other plans.
The night before, Darren texted me, saying he had a compulsory family event and wouldn’t be able to join the trip until the second day. He assured me he’d drive down early in the morning the day after to catch up with the group, which meant I was going into this without my supposed safety net.
I told myself it didn’t matter. I had Kaylee.
