Chapter 80. A Weekend Away
2024
Amelia’s POV
Back at the apartment, Kaylee wasted no time getting comfortable, sinking into the couch with a dramatic sigh.
“Finally.” She stretched her arms over her head. “If I had to spend one more second in that hospital bed with people coming to ask if I was alright every second, I was going to start haunting the place.”
I snorted. “Well, you’re stuck with me, so I hope you’re ready for round-the-clock care.”
Kaylee rolled her eyes. “I can take care of myself.”
Damon’s voice cut in from the kitchen. “She’s lying.”
Kaylee groaned, throwing a pillow at him as he walked over with a plate of food. “Shut up.”
Damon smirked, setting the plate in front of her. “Eat.”
I watched their exchange, my brow furrowing.
Was this how I looked when I was around Adrian?
The unspoken tension, the lingering glances, the way Kaylee’s expression softened just the tiniest bit when she thought no one was looking.
