Amelia’s POV

Emily was standing next to him, talking like she had all the time in the world, her body angled slightly toward his in a way that felt natural; like she couldn’t help by lean toward him.

My stomach twisted, and I hated that it did. I had no claim over Adrian, and I certainly had no reason to care if Emily was here. And yet, I did.

Sarah must have noticed where I was looking because she followed my gaze and let out a small laugh. “Oh, right. The Langfords own this resort.”

She shook her head. “Crazy, huh? Usually, whenever one of the teams comes up here, Adrian stops by, has dinner with them, and then leaves. You know, just to encourage us or whatever. I guess Emily came along this time because they’re dating or so I heard.” She tilted her head. “They do look good together, don’t they?”

I forced a neutral expression and nodded, even though listening to her right now felt like swallowing a glass.
