Talon’s POV
I lied.
I fucking lied like a pathetic coward who was afraid of losing the only person who meant the entire world to him.
I knew I lied.
Yeah… but I wasn’t sorry. Not at all.
Maybe it was jealousy. Or maybe it was greediness. Either way, I wasn’t going to share Zevara with anyone anymore. She was my mate, so she was supposed to be fully mine.
That was what I thought. That was what I expected when my wolf echd the word mate, when the bond snapped into place, and that was why I pulled her into a tight embrace.
But the moment we pulled apart and she asked about my father, my hope shattered and my happiness disappeared into thin air just as quickly as it came. Even though she was my mate, she still cared about him—she still wanted him.
The Moon Goddess must have had a reason for us to be true mates. If she wanted us to share her, then she wouldn’t have paired me and Vara together as mates. She wouldn’t have made her mine
