At exactly 7 p.m., Alpha Rowan walked into Crimson Howl Bar. Inside, the clubhouse buzzed with energy. Red neon lights pulsed through the room like a heartbeat. Loud music blazed from the loudspeakers, threatening to rip his eardrums apart. Strippers in fishnet dresses were on the stage, twisting around a pole erected in the middle, while some were straddling men. The smell of tobacco, cigars, and alcohol was thick in the air.

Rowan had a face cap pulled down to conceal his identity. Everyone thought he had gone back to his pack, so he couldn’t be seen here. He walked toward the counter, hoping to ask the attendant about Elder Ben, just as he had said.

“I’m asking for Elder Ben,” he screamed, his voice cutting through the loud music in the bar.

The attendant, a tall, beautiful lady with raven-black hair, stared at him—he stirred no familiarity—and nodded. “Come with me, sir,” she said, then turned away and climbed the stairs up to the VIP
