‘Fuck’s sake, Kabir!’ I holler in the mind-link. It takes every ounce of control to keep from running up to the helm and slamming him against the wheel. ‘That was too close!’

‘It’s only a cargo hold,’ he explains. ‘I know those vessels well. Sailed on one myself.’

‘Did it not fucking occur to you that they may be holding her down in cargo?’ The man is usually a lot smarter than this.

‘I—a lady?’ he stammers. ‘Alpha King, I seriously doubt that.’

‘Make no assumptions about the assholes who would dare touch my mate!’ I answer. ‘Go for the fucking sail so they can’t get away!’

‘Aye.’
