Chapter 38. Land Ho!

Lyra POV

My eyes blink open to the sunrise glinting through the small portal in Cassian’s room… our room. I’m surprised I fell asleep at all. There’s so much pent-up energy running through my veins.

I’m Cassian’s wife now! And I’m a wolf!

As much as the first part amazes me all by itself, the second part is nearly impossible to believe, but it’s true. I may not have shifted yet, but those fangs that came out to do the marking last night, along with the feeling inside me and our new mind-link, have me convinced.

My mother must be a wolf, or half one at least. I wonder whether my father was her mate. I can’t think of any reason she would stay with him and pretend to be human if she wasn’t.
