Paige’s POV

When I dragged Gabriel away from there, I was still shaken by the state in which his body was. He was beyond recognition. It shook me to the core. I was scared for him. There was no way I could find out if he was wounded behind all that blood. I couldn’t look away from him while he yelled at Carter and at the same time, I wanted to. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I pulled him away from there.

Since I’d come here, I always doubted if those rumors about Gabriel were real. He was so reasonable and careful with me. He never snapped, yelled, or broke things whenever he was with me and that was what created that doubt but seeing him in this state made me realize those rumors might have been true to an extent.

He was doing all it takes to protect those he loved. Also, one thing was certain, he wasn’t the mad son of the mad King. He’s just a normal guy.

While he stayed with me yesterday till I fell asleep, it felt surreal and when I opened my eye
