Chapter 29

Crystina’s POV

“Crystina,” he called out from the other end of the line. I quickly composed myself and placed the phone back to my ear.

“Hello,” I’ve been thinking about what I would say to him for three months, and all I could come up with was a stupid ‘hello’. Damn, this wasn’t the way I planned it.

“You called me,” he reminded me after a few minutes of silence between the two of us.

“Yes, I wanted to ask if you could permit Paige to return to the pack. She’s done with her exams and wants to come home with her boyfriend.”

He was silent for a long while, and if not for his steady, heavy breathing, I would’ve checked the phone to see if he was still on the line.

“I see that nothing has changed. You’re still the same.”

“What?”

“You still care about other people more than you care about me. My Luna didn’t call to ask me if I was okay, but she called about her friends again like every other time.”

“It’s not what you think,” I argued
