Luka's POV

Despite Charles and Baba protesting against me joining them at the borders, I still went. Before leaving for the borders, I made sure every wolf warrior was stationed at a post in the pack for safety. I know Draenei made it clear that my pack wasn't what he wanted but that doesn't mean we will believe him totally and relax.

He has my mate already, my patience is running out but I was told to wait if I wanted to see her alive. Every minute that I spent waiting makes it feel as if I'm a coward. I kept on hearing the word 'useless' in my head. I'm pathetic, stupid, and a failure. I couldn't protect my mate and now, I can't even go and rescue her.

This incident made me question each of my actions since I became an Alpha. I wanted a large pack, I desired it so much that I allowed anyone into the pack. I didn't give a thought to the negative impact that it'll bring on the people. I didn't make necessary plans for having more warriors. I kept o
