Chapter 39
When I woke up, Drake was not in bed. I felt my breath hitch. I was sensing someone lurking around our bedroom door but when I got there, it was like no one was there. I tried to really understand what was going on, so I tried listening.
I was a bit scared by the feedback.
I was hearing heartbeats and all were familiar except one that made me suspicious immediately.
I was about to step out of the bedroom when a signal hit my brain.
Someone was here, and that person feels right down dangerous, my brain said.
I counted to three, then rolled just in time to avoid the clang of a sword behind me.
The individual involved in the combat was moving at a speed that was only reserved for either a vampire or a real-life Superman, but I had my skills, which at that point started failing me.
True, I was a good and fast swordsman, but his speed was out of this world!
