Minutes later, I watched my teacher start fighting for breath. Somehow, something compassionate surged forward from me, and I ran to his side, though I never successfully got there as Drake blocked me.
“Congratulations Cush. You have won. Seems I underestimated what you are capable of doing. Soon you will be the most powerful Gifted that ever walked the face of the earth. Take care of others, and don’t make the same mistakes I made, or another will rise against you.”
Turning to Drake, he said:
“You have finally proven your love for him. The problem with the other people you had in your life was that you never actually loved them enough to stand up for them. Don’t lose this son of mine for anything, and if you as much as make him cry, I will come back and haunt you,” he said, chuckling at his own jokes, blood choking his laughter.
He turned back his eyes on me.
