Chapter 129. Her Feelings
Anita’s eyelids parted slowly, her vision growing clearer the wider they opened. She let out a long moan, yawning as she sat up. Her silver eyes burned a deep orange under the hue of the candles hanging from the walls, her blond hair falling over her shoulders and back as she rose. After stretching her bandaged arms, she used her right middle finger to push the strands of hair over her face behind her ear, looking around to assess the room she was in. She could remember arriving with Steven and the others at the city’s infirmary and admitted the night before.
“I guess this is the room they left me,” Anita uttered softly before yawning again, stretching her arms up in the air for a second time. She pulled the blanket over her thighs and found that she wasn’t wearing any pants. She was only on a silvery-white sleeping gown that only reached just below her knee—her thighs and shins were bandaged as well.
“This is what I get for not wearing real armor to a fight,” her brows
