Captain Argos stared down at his patient’s lower leg, slowly wrapping a dark brown cloth around it, holding two straight sticks tightly against its sides. His deep-brown eyes gleamed like marbles in the orange hue of the candlelight in his dark tent, his concentration on his work unwavering. Argos had worked for years as a medic for multiple Valtorian commanders, recovering bodies and treating the wounded after a battle had taken place. As a former mercenary and soldier of Valtoria, he had done some unspeakable things in his life, and this was his way of atoning for his sins—spending his last days treating the sick and wounded, whether it was a high-ranking commander or a peasant on the street.
“That should do it,” Argos said, letting out a sigh. His patient—a young soldier with short, dark-brown hair and gray eyes—pulled his leg off the table between him and Argos and gently placed it on the ground with a soft smile on his face.
