Chapter 142. The Fairy Queen
The gory yells of men and women, and the unsettling sounds flesh being torn apart by swords wielded by men echoed through the land. A thick cloud of dust and smoke fogged the air, perfumed by the ghastly stench of blood and burning flesh. Caspian stood admits the chaos, blindly moving around with his eyes squinted in attempt to navigate the fog. His face, dotted with beads of sweat, held nothing but horror, his heart racing, his hands trembling at the echoing sounds around him.
Another screeching sound came from his right, followed by the sound of a blade piercing through someone's chest, and Caspian quickly turned in its direction, his breaths becoming faster and more audible.
He felt a sudden warmth envelop his toes and quickly turned to the ground to find that he was standing in a pool of blood. His eyes widened, watching as the smoke moved away from him, revealing the dead body of a middle-aged woman. Her eyes were still open, devoid of life. Her fingers curled stiff
