Chapter 146. The Vision
~A day after the war~
“There is no light, witch. It's nothing but darkness.” A smoky voice echoed in Margaret’s head.
Margaret let out an airy moan, her face twitching as she felt a slight pain in her left arm. She opened and closed her palms, curling her fingers in agony, her veins bulging as her skin changed from its lively ivory into an undead gray. Margaret’s eyes remained shut, but she grimaced as the pain intensified, the dark gray trailing along the branches of her veins, up her arm.
“You have crossed the line, Margaret, and now the darkness will consume you and everything you love.” The voice came again, fading out after the third echo.
She tightened her grip on her blanket, writhing, refusing to scream as whatever was causing her pain wouldn’t let her. Her body twisted and bent in unnatural ways, her fingers and toes curling even harder as her nails turned black. Her entire body turned lifeless gray, her skin covered in bulging, throbbing veins.
