Chapter 178. Japhet the Third
“No! No! Let me go!” The wadi soldier kicked back frantically, lying prone across the back of Japhet’s horse. Her long, crimson locks poured below her face like silken blood, and the ropes that bound her hands and feet were attached to the horse’s saddle.
Japhet grimaced softly, gripping the rein tightly. He shut his eyes. “Stay put, or you’ll fall from the horse. If that happens, I won’t pick you up, and you’ll be dragged all the way to Valtoria on your face,” he warned.
“I’d rather die like that than become a slave to your evil king. It is a shame in my culture to become a captive. Just kill me now and be done with it,” the Wadi woman yelled, turning in Japhet’s direction. Her hair covered most of her face, revealing only her violet eyes and pink lips. She had bloodstains on her cheeks and forehead that were well hidden under her red hair.
