Moriah lifted the carriage and helped the driver put the wheels back on. Laeron stared quietly, his eyes moving between the three of us as sweat rolled down the side of his head. He couldn’t believe his eyes; the people he thought to be humans had now displayed abilities inexplicable by the term, leaving him baffled. First it was Moriah, now me.
He thought about the explanation Moriah gave him about humans being driven by their want to win a battle. Not that he believed it before, but now it sounded even more stupid. He slowly reached for a weapon concealed by his right thigh, waiting to see if we would attack him for seeing too much.
Damian walked closer to the woman, wearing a cold expression as he glared down at her. She pushed her baby against her chest as it cried and backed away, kicking back frantically and pleading. “Please, don’t kill my child. You can take me prisoner or kill me if you want, but spare my baby girl,” she cried.
