Chapter 184. The Baby
Multiple footsteps rushing through a dimly lit alleyway echoed. Whimpers and murmurs could be heard beneath each step. The dim light emitted by the glass petals of the Luminarian flowers planted along the walls of the stone buildings revealed the faces of two elves—a man and a woman dressed in dark grey robes. Their silver orbs glinted with worry, and tears sparkled in the corners of the woman’s eyes as she stared down at her baby wrapped in a white cloth and cradled in her arms.
The man carried a large black bag over his right shoulder and wrapped his left arm around his wife.
“You two!” A bold voice sounded at the entrance to the alley.
They paused and turned around slowly to find three elf soldiers scowling at them. They donned white, tight leather armor, heavy with golden and silver patterns across their chest, shoulder pads, gauntlets, and boots. “What are you doing?” The soldier in the middle asked.
