Chapter 179. Her Myth
Dawn came, Martha swore her oath, and she became a handmaiden to Prince Japhet. They spent the next week together, attending ceremonies and gatherings and roaming the Valtorian city. The trust and friendship between them seemingly grew. Martha still wanted to go back home, though. Free from her ropes, she could escape at any moment, but the risk of getting hunted down and having her entire tribe murdered and the oath she had taken prevented her.
The Wadi culture was strictly against breaking oaths, and no one believed in her culture more than she did.
“In my tribe, there is this myth about me that everyone believes,” Martha said, holding up a bowl of fruit. She and Japhet stood on the balcony of his bedroom, enjoying the evening breeze.
