Chapter 7. A Help from the Dark

"You didn't forget to bring a flashlight, right?" Claire asked when she saw Sharon looking for something in her bag.

"Of course," she replied, even though Claire doubted it.

It took Sharon almost half a minute before she finally found a flashlight in her bag.

But when she tried to turn on the flashlight, she always failed.

“Why isn't it working? Is it broken?” Sharon muttered while trying to examine the flashlight in her hand.

Claire stretched out her hand, “Let me see it.”

When Sharon handed the flashlight to her, Claire shook her head.

“W-why?” Sharon asked nervously. She felt she had made a mistake because she saw the expression on her face right now.

Claire did not say anything. She opened the bottom of the flashlight and showed it to Sharon.

Sharon frowned, “What's wrong with that?”

“You still don't get it?” Claire asked as she brought the flashlight closer to Sharon's face.
