Chapter 34. His Ex

Keira clenched her fists tightly as she watched the woman approach Ben for a hug. A tightness gripped her chest, and her stomach churned with nausea. “I missed you so much I thought I was going to die,” said the woman, her words barely audible to Keira. She observed Ben’s arms, which remained unmoved in response to the hug. Keira wondered about the nature of their connection. Could they have had a serious relationship? Her surprise grew as Ben forcibly released the woman from his embrace, saying, “Save your words for another man. Now get out of my office and never come here again! You’ve prevented my secretary from going home because you insisted on waiting for me here!” he snapped angrily.

“Secretary? My God! Donna? But where is she?” Keira whispered to herself. Turning around, her eyes met a pair of green eyes staring back at her. She covered her mouth, preventing a scream. Donna, the secretary, curtly approached her and crouched down so Ben and the woman couldn’t see them.<
