Chapter 55. Secret Mission

“Yeah, that poor kid...” said Dana almost in a whisper. Keira took a deep breath, “Dr. Peterson, I think Ben really needs your help right now. I mean, look at everyone cornering him and accusing him of being a cold-blooded murderer! You have to come out and talk; you have to explain to them!” she babbled impatiently. There was a heavy sigh on the other side, “Of course, I think I have to do that.”

Keira immediately smiled when she heard Dana say that. She thought things would be easy, but her next words made her flabbergasted.

“But, you know things aren’t the same now, um, I can’t do it for free, I mean...”

“Are you asking for a fee?” interrupted Keira. “Yeah, that’s how it is. I’m out of work, and this cancer gnawing at my body makes me unable to do anything to earn money while I have two grandchildren to feed,”

“How much?” said Keira impatiently.

“Well, I’ll tell you everything in detail on videotape. Fifty thousand dollars will be enough for that,
