Chapter 69. The Call
Ben gulped and then nodded silently. In front of her, Keira could suddenly feel her cheeks turning red. “But don’t expect much with whatever I’m feeling right now,” he ventured to open his mouth.
“Is that so?” replied Keira, trying so hard not to spill her gut.
“I know you must be confused,” said Ben hesitantly.
“No, absolutely not; I understand how difficult it is for you to even take such a small step. I really appreciate your honesty,” she said as she took a sip of the wine in her hand.
“I didn’t know you were this wise,” muttered Ben, a smile starting to appear on his handsome face.
Keira waved her hand, “This is the real me, mature and wise! So far, I’ve only shown a small part of my personality; you’ll be surprised when you see the best in me,” she rambled. The atmosphere had melted again and even Ben snorted laughing at the joke that came out of her mouth.
