Chapter 8. Lea and Michael’s Closeness

“Why? I can do whatever I want because I’m your husband, don’t you think?” he teased.

“Don’t get your hopes up, Mario! Why are you so annoying?” Rachel said, anger evident in her voice.

“Is that so? But I don’t think I’m annoying. Where did you get that idea?” he asked.

“It’s up to you, Mario! I’m just really annoyed with you!” Rachel glanced at Mario cynically, which only made him chuckle.

“What’s so funny?” she asked.

Mario quickly wiped the smile off his face when he saw Rachel’s fierce expression. “Nothing, just hurry up and eat the pasta before it gets cold.”

Mario continued eating his pasta silently. Unbeknownst to him, a smile appeared on Rachel’s lips. Why was she smiling? Rachel didn’t know, but she couldn’t help finding Mario’s behavior adorable.

Sometimes Rachel wondered what made Mario always be nice to her. If she recalled correctly, Rachel had always been unpredictable, especially with her recent statement about wanting to end
